The Collection of Small Archaeological Finds
The upper storey of the former Dominican church exhibits the collection of small archaeological finds from rich sites of the Ptuj and Ormož area. A selection of items, arranged in chronological order, illustrates life from the 3rd millennium BC to the 11th century AD. The prehistoric material comprises tools made of polished stone as well as clay, bronze, iron and glass products.

Antiquity, Ptuj’s most affluent period with regards to exquisite finds, is displayed thematically. Exhibited are parts of attires, cosmetic tools and surgical instruments, arms, tools, jewellery, small bronze and clay statuettes, oil lamps, as well as oil lamp moulds. Also displayed are selected glass and bronze vessels. Among earthenware, the most superb are relief-decorated terra sigilatta table vessels.

The remaining part of the collection exhibits early medieval burial objects, jewellery and earthenware, dating back to the period between the 8th and 11th century. In the same room, there is a collection of minerals, donated to the museum by France Dragar from Maribor.
