The Numismatic Collection
During the Baroque period the refectory of the Dominican monastery was beautifully stuccoed and decorated with paintings. Today, the refectory hosts the numismatic collection, comprising Celtic and Roman coins found in the area of Poetovio. Coins made of silver, bronze, brass and gold are displayed. The oldest among the exhibited items are Celtic silver and golden coins, and Roman republican coins from the 1st century BC, followed by the imperial coins, and three coin hoards.

The exhibits are arranged according to the dynasties spanning the period from 43 BC to 450 AD. Among other exhibits there is the medallion of Marcus Aurelius and two clay saving boxes from the 2nd century, as well as enhanced photos of effigies, among which the most interesting are depictions of a mint and of a banker at work.
